इस लेख में हरियाणा के नारनौल कस्बे के उदाहरण को पेश किया गया है जहाँ पाइप के ज़रिये पानी सप्लाई की योजना होते हुए भी पानी नहीं आया और पाइप सूखे पड़े रहे। पर काग़ज़ी तौर पर बस्तीवालों को पानी मिल रहा है और वे पचास रुपये माहवार उस पानी के लिए भुगतान करते हैं जो उन्हें कभी मिलता ही नहीं है। इसका प्रभाव सबसे ज़्यादा औरतों पर पड़ता है जो अत्यंत विवेकपूर्ण तरीके से पानी के सीमित संसाधन का इस्तेमाल कर अपना गुज़ारा करती हैं। इस लेख के ज़रिये पन्द्रहवें लोकसभा चुनाव में हरियाणा के महेंद्रगढ़ ज़िले से नव-निर्वाचित विधायक श्रुति चौधरी का ध्यान इस समस्या की ओर आकर्षित करने का प्रयास किया गया है।
